At sixteen, Wen Si awakens to the fact that he's the wicked villain in an angsty novel, destined to be dismembered by the male lead and dumped in the wilderness.
Wen Si scoffs. “Like I care?”
He's lived recklessly and arrogantly his whole life. What are some plot and villain roles to him? Worthless.
At sixteen, he's kicked out of his home and left to roam the streets, with only a cat for company.
Later, Qu Feng takes Wen Si and the kitten in. The warmth he gives them over those two years becomes something Wen Si can only dream of for the rest of his life.
Then Qu Feng leaves, leaving the two little cats behind.

When Wen Si meets Qu Feng again, Qu Feng is a polished and successful doctor, while Wen Si is the local “jinx” everyone says brought about his parents' deaths.
The humiliating reunion suddenly makes Wen Si feel that none of it matters.
But Qu Feng just won't stop coming after him.
Qu Feng: “What are we to each other now?”
Wen Si: “Enemies.”
For four years, nobody knew how he'd managed to get by.
Even the person who once held him in his arms no longer wanted him.
He was just a stray cat. Someone passing by might feed him, and that was all.
Qu Feng once took in two cats, but he lost them and couldn't find them again.
A seed of hatred took root in his heart, and he paid dearly for it.
But someone told him, “Your fourteen years were nothing but a joke.”
An unexpected incident after their reunion tears open the truth. The child who was once homeless finally has a home again.
“If I died, would you forgive me?”
“I'd hate you even more.”
