When he sacrifices himself for the world, I alone can compose a requiem to soothe his soul.
This is a world where sound is dying and color is fading with it. The “Heavenly Dao’s Zither,” which holds heaven and earth together, is breaking apart. Each snapping string marks the eternal loss of a “Primordial Note.” When all sound finally falls silent, existence itself will be forgotten.
The story begins:
In “Soundnest,” humanity’s last city, Lawweavers burn themselves away to weave the “Laws” that preserve the last remnants of color and sound, holding off the end for as long as they can.
Xuan Lü is the city’s chief Law Enforcer, the embodiment of reason and order. He believes that only absolute control and sacrifice can secure civilization’s continued survival.
Mo Yan is a wanderer who roams the lands of silence, an anomaly able to hear the “Dead Notes” of sounds that have passed away. He is himself a walking forbidden zone of the Laws.
When a tide of Dead Notes sweeps over Soundnest, Xuan Lü’s cold Laws fail for the first time before rules that have already fallen silent. And Mo Yan, the very embodiment of “chaos” whom he sees as the greatest threat, becomes the only force capable of resonating with them and turning the tide of despair.
One is the strongest order; the other, the deepest chaos.
He needs Mo Yan’s ears to hear the truth of the world’s collapse.
He needs Mo Yan’s Laws to restrain his own uncontrollable madness.
Together, they will embark on a journey to find the “Heavenly Dao’s Zither.” Before eternal silence descends, they will compose one final piece for this world
Will it be a requiem for the end, or… the prelude to a new beginning?
