The Sickly Emperor: Elder Sister, Don't Even Think of Escaping

Both pure and powerful; a struggle for power

The lovesick Xiao Jingyan grabs Shen Qingxian by the wrist, his grip crushingly tight, fear and fury churning in his eyes. “Shen Qingxian, try disappearing without a word again.” His fingertips tremble, and his voice drops to a low murmur, every word ground out between clenched teeth. “If you run away again... I'll lock your ankles in golden chains, so you can't take a single step away from my side.”

Shen Qingxian's wrist aches in his grasp, but she lifts her face, her gaze clear as the stars. “Then, Your Majesty, watch me every day. While you review memorials, meet with ministers, even attend court... keep me tethered to your side. How does that sound?”

Xiao Jingyan's breath catches. The scene her words conjure makes his heart burn, aching with jealousy and longing. He abruptly pulls her into his arms, holding her tight as iron bands, his chin pressed hard against the crown of her head. He gives in with a muffled reply. “...No. I can't bear it.” His kiss lands beside her ear, turning into a sigh that is almost a plea. “Xian'er, don't run away again... I'll really go mad.”

The king: “Xian'er, we have a baby now. Don't leave me.”

The Grand Princess: “Go away. My ambitions matter more!”

The lovesick emperor: “Xian'er, you've lost your memory. Don't leave me.”

The Grand Princess: “We'll see how you do!”
