Son of a spirit-summoning imperial physician × ghost-hunting female general disguised as a man!
A wimpy army medic who can see ghosts and a female general with blazing yang energy, disguised as a man under the military alias “Xiang Yun,” are forced to become detective partners, along with a pack of unreliable ghostly helpers. One uses medicine and reason to talk with the dead; the other uses swords and blades to deal with evil spirits the practical way. Trailing behind them is a whole crew of old ghosts from the previous dynasty, whose main job is “mooching incense offerings” and whose favorite pastime is “scaring Western Di spies.”
The borderlands are all sandstorms, and the cases are explosive. The spirit-summoner questions ghosts, the ghost-hunting general cuts down demons. As partners, they're unreliable, but they get the job done!
