Road-Raging Maniac

Qin Feng had just retired from the army. He gave up a secure job in the provincial capital and returned to remote Yunxi County solely to care for his critically ill older sister. But his sister's medical bills and his niece's school fees weighed on him like two mountains, leaving him barely able to breathe. To make ends meet, he took a job as a waiter at the county government's guesthouse, only to become unexpectedly caught up in the political storm stirred up by the newly appointed County Party Secretary, Liu Sisi. After taking office, Liu Sisi acted swiftly and criticized everyone, from county leaders to ordinary staff, with uncompromising severity. The one exception was her uncle, Zhou Guodong, who had been placed in the Transportation Bureau as a deputy director on a temporary appointment and enjoyed a generous salary. She was nearly obsessed with rebuilding the county's roads. She had perfectly good asphalt roads torn up and repaved, provoking complaints across the county. In private, the locals called her the "Roadwork Maniac."
