Donghao Divine Emperor Ling Chen, the Creator God, ventures into the Hongmeng Secret Realm and barely makes it out alive with a mysterious black jade. But his close friend, Nanhao Divine Emperor Cangming, joins forces with the Western Buddha, Chiyou of the Northern Lands, Nuwa Xi of Penglai, and other Creator Gods to betray him. His divine body shatters, and his primordial spirit is swept into reincarnation by the black jade.
In Luoshui Village on the Xuanwu Continent, he becomes Li Luoshui, a born good-for-nothing who cannot cultivate. One stormy night, he encounters the black jade again beside the Luoshui River. The jade enters his body, breaking its seal, and the primordial spirit of the former Divine Emperor gradually awakens. From then on, the good-for-nothing youth begins a cultivation journey that defies heaven.
Brilliant and cunning, with a mischievous streak, he rises step by step in the Xuanwu Continent, where the strong prey on the weak, relying on the black jade's legacy and his extraordinary wits. By the Luoshui River, he rescues Nangong Xue, princess of the Great Wilderness Dynasty, from her pursuers and gives her the alias Li Qingxue. The two depend on each other, outwit their pursuers, venture into the savage beast jungle, claim blood spirit fruit, and take their first steps on the path of cultivation.
From the Xuanwu Continent to the Azure Dragon Heavens, from conflicts in the Immortal Realm to power struggles in the Divine Realm, Li Luoshui joins forces with Li Qingxue, the exceptionally clever Little Zhuge Wenren Xiao, the mechanical genius Mo Ling'er, and other companions. Together, they match wits with Xie Wuye, the Ghost-Faced Yama under the command of Emperor Wu Lie of the Great Wu Dynasty. They find a way through desperate situations and grow stronger through bloodshed.
The Poison King lays his toxins, the Mo family's mechanisms are set in motion, the Northern Lands raise their royal banner, and old subordinates return to the fold. Forces converge from every side, strategists clash in breathtaking contests, and breakthroughs shake the heavens.
