The story is set during the Anti-Japanese War. The Kuomintang and the Communist Party cooperated to fight against Japan. However, there were also pro-Japanese factions and die-hard factions within the Kuomintang, and the forces of all parties were complicated. In order to conquer China as soon as possible, the Japanese army deployed a large number of spies throughout China to steal intelligence and undermine the anti-Japanese forces. The protagonist Zheng Haoyu lives in such troubled times, relying on his wisdom and courage to lurk in the enemy camp, deliver important information, and contribute to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War.
