[A strange reimagining of history + one heroine]
Strange things lurk among the living. History is written like a blade. The abyss has a gate, kept under guard but never sealed.
The official histories passed down through the ages record only emperors and generals, the rise and fall of rites and music. No one dares write down the bizarre secrets hidden in the folds of mountains and rivers: the sobbing heard in deserted villages at midnight, the fiends sleeping in ancient temples, the shadowy spirits surging beneath rivers, and taboos passed down through generations but never spoken aloud.
I was merely a passerby in the mortal world, until I stumbled into a chaotic age rife with the uncanny and accidentally knocked on the Gate of Abyssal Suppression. It admits neither immortals nor Buddhas. Its sole purpose is to suppress the evils of the world and guard humanity's final line of defense.
From then on, I roamed lands overrun with dark forces, entering haunted houses, exploring ancient tombs, crossing the River of the Dead, and unraveling sinister schemes. I bore uncanny power in a mortal body and wielded it against monsters with the strength of the human heart, uncovering the dark truths buried beneath the official histories in one horrifying tale after another.
The vanished dynasties, fallen gods, out-of-control taboos, and undying vengeful spirits all belong to the strange history.
Guard one gate, protect one region, and record a dark secret history no one dares pass on.
