Have you ever wondered whether the painful memories you’ve forgotten have gone somewhere real?
Thirteen-year-old Lin Xiaotiao never imagined that a pocket watch of unknown origin would tear a crack through his peaceful life. It begins on a rainy night, when the school library becomes the entrance to the "Memory Corridor" at midnight: a bizarre space formed from all the pain, guilt, and sorrow humanity has forgotten. Here, rules are no longer lifeless words. They breathe and grow, and can even twist and mutate in response to the fear in your heart. A rule that says "Do not read in the mirror" might become "The pages in the mirror will devour you" the very next second.
To save his friends, whose memories were erased by the organization known as the "Forgetters," Lin Xiaotiao and his young detective squad, logic genius Chen Mo, perceptive Su Xiaomei, and mechanic Aji, enter the crisis together. In Doll Town, they will use childhood rhymes to fight memory extraction; in the Deep-Sea Memory Bank, they will wager their emotions for a chance to survive. They discover that the villains, the Forgetters, do not seek destruction. They want to erase all pain and create a painless, "perfect" world.
But true horror does not come from the rules themselves. It comes from facing the deepest wounds in your own heart. Lin Xiaotiao must relive the fire at age seven that took his friend’s life and acknowledge his guilt before he can master the pocket watch’s true power. When the world presents them with the ultimate choice, "forget the pain" or "carry the memories," they will prove that it is precisely those painful memories that make us whole.
