In the quiet stairwell, something was rasping noisily against the floor. Annoyed, Xun Jin opened the door. Chen Jiu stood there with her eyes lowered, glowering at her scratched-up suitcase.
Their eyes met. The moment he recognized her face, Xun Jin's heart skipped a beat. But from Chen Jiu's reaction, it seemed she hadn't recognized him. Then he leaned lazily against the door and sneered, “Could you keep it down in a public space?”

When they met again, Chen Jiu furrowed her brows slightly, her eyes cool as she looked at him like he was a stranger. “Do you think I can't live without you, or that I'll come running back the moment you beckon?”
The cold air stretched on, wearing at them. Time stood still for a long while.
