Shen Jingshu, a master Suzhou embroidery artist and livestreamer dedicated to promoting intangible cultural heritage in the 21st century, transmigrates one day to 1995 and finds herself in the body of an 18-year-old small-town girl with the same name, who has just been forced to break off her engagement. Facing a poor family, the contempt of those around her, and an impending wave of layoffs, Shen Jingshu resolutely picks up her embroidery needle. Starting with a street stall, she uses the skills from her previous life and her forward-thinking marketing sense to stitch together a brilliant future. She intends not only to bring China’s national treasures to the world, but also to live a life of dazzling splendor.
Shen Jingshu: In her previous life, she was a 21st-century Suzhou embroidery master, an inheritor of intangible cultural heritage, and a Chinese-style influencer with millions of followers. Her skills were superb, her emotional intelligence high, and she knew the ins and outs of social media. In this life, she is a high school graduate from a poor family in 1995, timid at first and branded with the stigma of a “humiliating broken engagement.” After transmigrating, she becomes a resilient, intelligent, and determined modern independent woman.
Gu Yunshen: A well-connected third-generation military and political family member and wealthy heir, whose family wields influence in the military, government, and business worlds. A veteran, he later becomes one of the first to dive into business, riding the wave in real estate and technology. He is stern on the outside and ruthless in his methods, but has his own principles and tenderness within. He admires all things vibrant and beautiful, and is deeply drawn to the heroine’s talent and unique soul.
Lin Weiwei: Shen Jingshu’s high school classmate, cheerful and loyal. Early on, she is one of the few who does not look down on the heroine. She later becomes the heroine’s first employee and most loyal business partner, growing alongside her.
Zhao Jiaming: The original owner’s former fiancé, a snobbish man and the son of a textile mill director. He represents outdated thinking and social prejudice, and is the heroine’s main target for face-slapping early in the story.
