Mr. Jiang, Please Keep the PDA Understated

The heir to the Jiang family, one of the capital’s most powerful military and political dynasties, completed a three-year undercover mission and returned home as a decorated officer, two bars and four stars on his shoulders. The first thing he did after arriving in the capital was charge into Peking University and hoist the Lu family’s precious daughter over his shoulder in front of the entire school. Under the eyes of everyone in the military compound, the unruly man gave a quiet laugh and held down the little woman struggling in his arms. “I raised my wife myself, so of course I’ll be the one to comfort her.” The marriage alliance between the Lu and Jiang families was an unspoken understanding throughout the capital. The Jiang family was a house of iron-willed soldiers, while the Lu family had generations of scholars. The little girl they all cherished had long ago been etched into the heart of the Jiang heir. From military academy to the special forces, every merit he earned bore her name. Then one day, a startling scene unfolded at the army supermarket: the stone-faced commander calmly paid for contraception, then raised an eyebrow at the line of soldiers blushing as they saluted him. “The organization will issue these from now on.” When the soldiers teased him, asking him to have their sister-in-law find them partners, the man gestured toward the door with his chin. “Ask your sister-in-law to assign them.” Meanwhile, the completely unsuspecting young woman was still playing on her phone in the car. She looked up to find a group of officers gathered around her window. “Sister-in-law! When is the country going to assign us partners?” When the smoke of war has finally cleared, I will be loyal to my country, and loyal to you.
