Sparrow and Sand

She plants schemes in the soil, while he hides his true feelings inside the game.

The “Fallen Princess” Su Wanying is the most perfect actress in the capital.

By day, she is a delicate beauty who coughs blood and sheds tears, so frail that even a breeze could knock her over. By night, she is a player who “plants” secrets in flowerpots, sending distress signals to the outside world through ancient codes.

The “Living Yama” Xie Wuyi is the dynasty’s most dangerous hunter.

He watches her act with cold eyes, then personally offers her a poisoned bait wrapped in honey: a forged secret letter meant to lure her into a deadly trap at Huangjue Temple.

Until one day, right in front of him, she sinks her only clue to the bottom of the lake.

He bends to pick up the string of beads she “accidentally” dropped, turning it between his fingers. “Your Highness, where will you take your next move in this game?”

It turns out he has known all along:

What she planted was no flower, but the spark that could overturn the game.

What he laid was no net, but a cage meant to ensnare his own heart.

When pretense becomes part of the bones, and schemes give rise to true feelings,

in this game of strategy wagered on the fate of the realm, who is the tamed sparrow, and who has become sand that cannot be held?
