Ten Kneels: A Debt to My Parents

The inspiration for this book came from Teacher Zhao Zhen’s song “Ten Kneels for Father and Mother.”

Every lyric about a parent’s kindness is like a gentle, dull knife, piercing the guilt countless sons and daughters hide in their hearts: they gave us the very best they had, while swallowing their own hardships with the passing years; they waited for us their whole lives, while we kept saying, “Maybe later.”

A tribute to Teacher Zhao Zhen, and to the simple, heartfelt love of parents everywhere, hidden in this song.

I want to say this to everyone who opens this book:

Don’t wait until you “have time” or “have money.” While your parents are still here, go home one more time and make one more phone call.

A tribute to parents everywhere. May good health stay with you, and may every year bring peace and joy.
