A Strategist in Troubled Times

The story takes place in an ancient kingdom in turmoil, where the old system is rotten to the core and war is about to erupt. The protagonist died unjustly in his previous life. Reborn, he distinguishes himself among strategists through his wisdom, and various factions vie to win him over. With grand ambitions, he resolves to reform the law, rescue his country from its predicament, and give the people peaceful, prosperous lives. However, the conservative aristocracy sees his reforms as a deadly threat to its interests. They form cliques at court, spread rumors and slander, and do everything they can to obstruct the reforms. Meanwhile, with war drawing near, the protagonist faces the impossible task of completing his reforms in a short time to strengthen the nation. As the old guard threatens and tempts him, he is torn between self-interest and his convictions. Their rumors cause the people to misunderstand him, and even someone he once trusted is bribed into betraying him. But the protagonist refuses to back down. He goes among the people to learn from their wisdom and fights alongside those who share his ideals. Skillfully exploiting divisions within the conservative faction, he splits and weakens its forces, then calmly commands his troops on the battlefield and drives back the enemy. He gradually implements his reforms and wins the people's support. Though he loses many friends and family along the way, the protagonist ultimately succeeds in reforming the law, changes the nation's fate, and writes a legend.
