This is a story of growth and transformation, and of how an ordinary soul was kindled by love and faith, ultimately lighting the way for itself and others.
Su Bei, an ordinary boy from the countryside, struggles onward through the narrow gaps in fate, weighed down by poverty and a sense of inferiority. Zhang Yi, a girl as pure as an angel, enters his world bearing mysterious powers.
They meet beneath the old camphor tree on campus, part ways at the crossroads of youth, and reunite at the pinnacle of their lives. This long journey through middle school, high school, and the wider world not only witnesses a boy's transformation into a man, but also shows how an ordinary soul can be awakened by love and create an extraordinary life of its own.
This is no fairy tale, yet it is more moving than one. This is no myth, yet it is more stirring than one. Because everyone who has struggled through the darkness can see their own reflection in Su Bei's story.
Now, let us step together into this life's journey, which began in the ordinary and ended in legend.
