Xie Xiaoman and Shi Mu were childhood sweethearts who joined the Shangqing Temple together. As teenagers, they practiced swordsmanship beneath the morning dew and studied the Dao beneath the evening stars, always by each other’s side. Later, when their sect was in danger, Xie Xiaoman sealed herself inside the Dragon Serpent Cave alongside a monstrous demon to protect her master and fellow disciples. After slaying all the demons, she lost her Daoist resolve. Shi Mu watched the one he loved endure terrible suffering and destroyed his own Dao foundation, giving his life for love.
