The Long-Haul Driver of the Siheyuan

The moment Zhou Kai opens his eyes, the gray-tiled roofs and brick courtyard of a siheyuan fill his vision. The distant sound of an argument makes his heart clench. This isn’t the set of Love in the Courtyard: he really has transmigrated into this den of strife. After transmigrating in a car accident, he becomes an insignificant nobody living under someone else’s roof in the courtyard. By chance, he gets into the steel mill, snatches Qin Huairu away from the others, draws a clear line between himself and the rest, and moves out of the courtyard. He originally plans to wait for the winds of reform and use his portable dimension to trade goods and return to his old line of work. Instead, he keeps rising through the ranks and enjoying a smooth career in government. Plans have changed: he’s preparing to join the ministry.
