Glasslight Drifts Across a Summer of Ripples

[Everyday romance] + [One female lead] + [No rebirth, no System] + [A slow-burn romance]

When I was five, my mother brought home a girl my age from the hospital.

The following year, my mother left, and we made a quiet promise: “We'll wait for her to come home.”

But when I was twelve, the girl disappeared too, without even leaving a goodbye.

Six years later, she walked back into this house, and we met again.

Her closeness felt like it was tearing open emotions I'd thought were long dead.

The gentle way she folded clothes, the plate of food she set in front of me, the familiar name she whispered in my ear.

She looked up at me. “If I hadn't left back then, do you think you would have... fallen for the person I am now?”

In that moment, I could no longer lie to myself.

Then, when we found the mother who had left all those years ago, a deeply buried truth came to light.

It turned out that what lay between us had never been a cruel twist of fate, but a foreshadowing written by fate.
