A Misplaced Bridal Crown, A General’s Proposal
Su Jinning, a principled young woman from a fallen family, takes refuge in a marquis’s manor and treads carefully at every step. But at the Imperial Academy, she is unexpectedly drawn into the bonds and entanglements among the young people around her. She relies on her talent to preserve her dignity and her resilience to make her way in the world, opening a grain shop to support herself. Yet fate deals her one blow after another: she mistakenly trusts the gentle Gu Yanshen, who breaks off their engagement to climb the social ladder, and is swept into a whirlpool of rumors that nearly destroys her reputation.
Shen Jinglan, the General Who Pacifies the North, transforms from an arrogant young wastrel into a legendary battlefield warrior. He repeatedly rescues her in times of danger, from giving her a bridal crown to asking the emperor for her hand, using his sense of duty to clear away the shadows in her path. Xiao Mingyue, the marquis’s daughter who disguises herself as a man, protects Su Jinning at every turn in the name of friendship and becomes her strongest support. The affection of Xie Wanqing, a gentle and talented young woman, also grows ever more sincere through the storms.
Hidden moves in the court’s power struggles, schemes by the nobility, and the steadfast ideals of the young all intertwine amid the shifting fortunes of the capital. When the imperial decree of marriage arrives, Su Jinning goes from passively accepting her fate to making her own choice. She and Shen Jinglan move from being “bound by destiny” to “sharing the same heart,” joining hands to protect their family’s good name and each other’s true feelings amid the court’s treacherous currents and the bustle of everyday life.
A marriage that began with misunderstanding and scheming ultimately blossoms through shared hardship. The bridal crown was a mistake of the past; the general’s personal proposal is where she truly belongs. See how a young noblewoman and a young general break free of their constraints amid a world in turmoil and compose a beautiful tale together.
