In 1995, Hong Kong was in turmoil. A series of bizarre murders in a tenement house in Sham Shui Po gave birth to the "Special Investigation Team". The leader of the operation, Chen Guozheng (a pragmatic police officer), led the folklore professor of the University of Hong Kong, Lam Ching-yee (an expert in spell decryption), the forensic doctor Hui Jiaming (an expert in pathological traces), and the forensic technician Zheng Yonghao (a master in physical evidence collection), to use scientific blades to chop down urban ghost stories: the blood and tears of the idols are actually radioactive lesions, the crew of the ghost ship is not always suffering from deep-sea hypertensive syndrome, and the fox fairy's face-cutting is caused by titanium alloy bone nails that interfere with the brain nerves. But when encountering the walking paper man that defies the rules of physics, the reappearance of fingerprints spanning forty years, and the ancient "Return to Tibet" array that appears on the sea map, the high wall of rationality cracks.
