The old dream of Haicheng, the long-lasting love of war
In Haicheng in 1934, neon lights surged under the undercurrent. Wen Shuyao, a daughter of the Chamber of Commerce, came to Haicheng with her father, where she reunited with her childhood sweetheart Lu Zhiyu, whom she had not seen for five years. She was also befriended by Jiang Yanci, the son of the commander, and frequently interacted with Shen Qinghe, an intellectual teacher who had returned from studying abroad.
The bookstore owner's forbearance and affection, the commander's passionate pursuit, and the overseas teacher's double life are three clues intertwined in Haicheng, where war is approaching.
When love collides with faith, and when reunion involves conspiracy, Wen Shuyao discovers that the separation five years ago hides a choice between life and death, and the identities of the people around him are not as simple as they appear. Between the righteousness of their family and the love of their children, they will eventually make a choice in the fog, to stay together or separate in the flames of war.
