The epic tale of Ye Yan's rise. With mediocre talent, he became the sect's laughingstock as soon as he entered the Netherworld Sect, enduring the scorn of his fellow disciples. But a chance encounter one night awakened an ancient ghost-taming legacy that had been lost for ages, turning his fate around. He subdued his first ghost servants and gained the first stepping stone on his path to power.
Within the sect, he unexpectedly met his senior sister, Ye Chuchu, who was coldly beautiful on the outside but kindhearted within. Her seemingly casual acts of help brought warmth and support to Ye Yan in his darkest hours. As they faced one perilous adventure after another together, feelings quietly blossomed between them, binding their fates together. A sect mission then brought him face to face with the willful demoness Nalan Cai. Their contest of wits and strength went from fierce opposition to a subtle alliance, and finally turned them from enemies into friends, giving Ye Yan a powerful ally for the road ahead.
As Ye Yan's cunning nature emerged and his ghost-taming skills grew ever stronger, he stunned everyone in the sect's tournament and repeatedly distinguished himself by outsmarting evil cultivators on missions abroad. No longer a lowly servant anyone could bully, he began to make a name for himself. He passed a grueling trial as a Qi Refiner and became a disciple of the Law Enforcement Hall, charged with upholding the rules. Thus began his legendary journey to become the Netherworld's supreme sovereign.
