The Poison Doctor Sends Them All West

As calamity descends and a blood moon looms overhead, every flower and tree in the city withers. A high monk reads her fate: a peerless harbinger of doom, burdened by sin.

She could read at three and mastered medicine at five, yet she chose to cultivate through poison. For every person she saves, she must kill another. The Emperor issues a secret decree: This girl must not be allowed to live.

At seven, she perished in a sea of flames, just as the world wished.

Eighteen years later, the Crown Prince of an enemy nation is struck by a deadly poison. The palace physicians are helpless, and the nation is willing to offer half its territory for a cure. On the day a huge reward is offered, a woman in plain white steps forward to claim it. Her eyes lowered, her voice like a Buddhist chant, she says:

“My name is Du E. I specialize in guiding you all… to the Western Paradise.”

(The Emperor who once issued that secret decree now sits upon the throne, his body ravaged by poison. His life, too, now hangs on her every whim.)
