The Zhu Family Through Wind and Rain

In 1937, the Zhu family of eastern Sichuan fell into dire straits: the head of the household had died, and the eldest son was missing. Fourth daughter Zhu Yuxiu cut ties with the man she loved and took charge of the family. Her strict second aunt hoped to raise her children to be successful, while her dispirited second uncle found new resolve and began training. As the family faced oppression from the wealthy Zheng family and the Japanese army’s threat to build a blockhouse, the Zhu family joined forces. They also accepted Zhao Jianjun’s invitation to join the anti-Japanese guerrillas, fighting together to protect their home.
