Two female leads, mutual redemption, and love at first sight on both sides (though you could also call it love growing over time). Expect some heartbreak. Slightly sci-fi, not a wish-fulfillment story.
Open ending, tragic or otherwise.
[A reserved medical genius × A healing traditional Chinese medicine doctor, the one who got away]
When the woman of absolute reason meets the woman overflowing with tenderness
At the variety show The Light of Xinglin, everyone kept their distance from Mo Shu, the Western medicine PhD who was as cold as a surgical scalpel.
Only Su Luo walked straight up to her.
Only Su Luo knew that at the back of Mo Shu’s neck, she had seen a small patch of cold metallic sheen that didn’t belong on human skin.
“What are you looking at?”
Mo Shu turned around, her gaze as sharp as a blade.
But in her eyes, Su Luo saw a flash of panic, like a program malfunctioning.
After that, Su Luo kept “happening” to pass by Mo Shu’s secluded research institute.
A bowl of lamb soup with angelica root. A pot of lotus seed and lily bulb porridge.
With the warmth of herbs and plants passed down through a thousand years, she clumsily tried to thaw a block of ice.
She thought she was saving a lonely genius.
She had no idea she had already become the most unusual “variable” in someone else’s experimental report.
Then Su Luo’s father died in a raging fire, and her world collapsed completely.
When Mo Shu, whom she had once warmed, appeared again, only absolute, icy reason remained in her eyes.
“My condolences. Death is the natural end of the process of life.”
In that moment, Su Luo understood that she had lost her.
Just when everyone thought the story was over
Mo Shu, her eyes shattered, crashed through Su Luo’s door like an abandoned stray dog.
Trembling, she grabbed Su Luo’s clothes with bloodstained fingers, her voice hoarse:
“Su Luo... the chip... it’s burning my... brain”
