Fang Yu breaks through to the Foundation Establishment stage on a rooftop, using spiritual power infused with the aura of the Devouring Heaven Beast to defeat the Soul-Devouring Ants controlled by the black-robed Mo Yuan. He reveals that Mo Yuan was Xuan Chenzi's junior brother, expelled five hundred years ago, who holds a grudge over the Spirit-Breaking Pill and seeks to unseal the Ant King for revenge. Su Qingyuan, who had been controlled by the ants, breaks free and tells Fang Yu that the seal actually binds Xuan Chenzi's remnant soul to the Ant King. Xuan Chenzi had spent five hundred years suppressing the beast, while Su Qingyuan was a substitute created from fragments of his spirit. Mo Yuan tries to force the seal open, but Fang Yu severs his right arm, and the out-of-control Ant King ultimately devours him. Xuan Chenzi's remnant soul entrusts Fang Yu with using the Devouring Heaven Beast's core to end both his own existence and the Ant King's. When the jade pendant is pieced together, a message appears: “With my remnant soul, I nourish your Great Way.” It helps Fang Yu finally break through a five-thousand-year-old constraint. Su Qingyuan dissolves along with Xuan Chenzi's soul, but when Fang Yu receives a message calling him to military training, she appears on the sports field. Dressed in a white skirt and wearing half a jade pendant, she quietly waits for him. Fang Yu soars toward the field, and his thousand-year career as a repeat student begins a new chapter.
