[Marriage first, love later + not a wish-fulfillment story + both leads are virgins + sweet romance]
Liu Shuangxu is the youngest legitimate daughter of an earl's family, but she is not favored. Fortunately, her aunt looks out for her. Her eldest sister married into a powerful duke's family, but her status has made life difficult for her at every turn. For her own sake, she is always hoping her younger sisters will marry into powerful families so she can benefit from their good fortune. Later, under pressure from her influential uncle by marriage, Liu Shuangxu is married off by her father to the master of the Chiyan Mountain Manor, a notorious name in the martial world. Eager to escape her family, Liu Shuangxu accepts.
The engagement is arranged, and the wedding is imminent when the capital, Zhaojing, is thrown into upheaval and the empire changes hands.
Overnight, Liu Shuangxu goes from being a laughingstock, mocked for having to marry a bandit, to the most noble empress.
Qi Yue also goes by the assumed name Yue Qi. He is the master of Chiyan Mountain Manor and the late emperor's son. As a child, he and his mother were targeted, and he was left outside the palace for more than a decade. He has spent years plotting revenge. He allies with Duke Ying and follows his advice to become engaged to a daughter of the Liu family, all to secure their support. Thankfully, fate takes pity on him and gives him the chance to exact his revenge.
At first, he uses her. Later, he truly falls for her.
It's so beautiful. Boss, are you coming back? 😢 😢 😢
It's really good to read because I don't know how to write book reviews. It's really good to read.
It's very slow in the early stages, and the plot doesn't have any big ups and downs. It's a long, thin stream, and it's pretty fun to watch.
