Ballad of Fengzhen

Reader comments: Born in Xinzhou Lane and raised in Xinzhou Lane, I only know its name but don't know the story of how it got its name and its development. Follow Feng Zhenyao to slowly understand, comment on the origins of Shanxi merchants coming to Mongolia, and take root in history. As the protagonists look for business opportunities and develop products, they are like a newborn baby, slowly growing into a wise man with life experience. The story is described in detail and the plot is fascinating, a bit like Dashengkui. When you open "Fengzhen Ballad", you will touch more than just paper. You will touch the wind and sand outside the Great Wall raised by the camel caravans of Shanxi merchants during the Xianfeng period. The wind and sand are wrapped in the sweat and dreams of Qiao Guitian's entrepreneurship; you will smell the lingering fragrance of aged tea in Moyun Zhai on Shuncheng Street, and the fragrance of tea is hidden in it. Follow Qiao Jiye's lonely courage in listening to the thunder in silence; you will finally see the old begonia that has gone through the war on Longzhuang slope in 1949, silently blooming its flowers year after year in the morning light of New China. This is a family epic that witnesses the ups and downs of China over the past century through the eyes of three generations of Shanxi merchants. But please don't just regard it as "the history of the rise and fall of Shanxi merchants" - it is also a soul map of how every ordinary person makes choices, how to persevere, and how to find meaning at the crossroads of great changes in the times. What you'll see here: •How business wisdom can be sublimated into responsibility for the country in the face of national crisis - from abacus account books to underground intelligence, from tea road camel bells to revolutionary secret codes. •How personal love is intertwined with grand history - The love between Qiao Jiye and Su Wen has become extremely tenacious, tempered by secret trust, separation and belief. •Those faces in the torrent of history that cannot be easily defined—not only heroes who sacrificed their lives for righteousness, but also traitors who sank step by step, and ordinary people who struggled to survive in gray areas.

The writing is good and the characters are so big and fleshed out. The storyline is slightly lacking in logic and seems to have a mythical tone. Inconsistent and too jumpy. Despite its flaws, it's still worth reading!

The writing is delicate and unpretentious. Tell it eloquently…

It's pretty good, straightforward and seems solid.

True, a century-old story of three generations.
