The Dream of the Red Chamber, Unfinished: The Last Flower-Burier

This story continues the final forty chapters of Cao Xueqin's original.

The world laments the tragic end of Baoyu and Daiyu's love, unaware that the Crimson Pearl Immortal Grass, who repaid her debt in tears, did not weep for herself alone.

Lin Daiyu is not a doomed beauty who dies after exhausting her tears. She is the last person to witness the Jia mansion's towers come crashing down and fallen blossoms blanket the Grand View Garden, after burying the Twelve Beauties of Jinling with her own hands.

When Baochai marries, Xiangyun is scattered to the winds, Yuanchun dies suddenly, and Tanchun is wed far away... All splendor turns to dust, and all her sisters return to bones. Only she, the last “flower-burier,” stands alone above a lonely grave, offering a final elegy for this dying Red Chamber.

This is not the continuation of the Red Chamber dream you know. It is a witness's lament, a long, mournful song of an age in which all beauties grieve together.
