When the Road Appears, Keep Walking

The realist novel Don't Take the Road You Meet tells the story of the tangled relationships and emotions between a man and two women. In an age when everyone says, “The road lies beneath your feet,” writer Bai Dehua uses Don't Take the Road You Meet to ask what life is really about. When the weight of reality bends our backs, do we go with the flow, or find another way? We hope you will find an answer of your own in the book. Don't Take the Road You Meet is a powerful work of realism with the quality of a fable. Its light narrative carries weighty reflections, building a thought-provoking literary bridge between the absurd and the real. The novel reminds us that sometimes the most absurd stories are closest to the essence of life, while the seemingly sensible “right path” may actually be life's greatest deception.
