Who Says a Butcher Can't Slay Ghosts?

On an ordinary day after closing up shop, butcher Zhang Dadan ventures into a mass graveyard at dusk to celebrate his son's birthday. Eager to get home, he is ensnared by a scale weight he cannot retrieve from the water, and a cold ghostly hand leaves a purplish mark on him.

This is not the end, but the beginning of a nightmare. The mark refuses to fade, whispers never cease, and the water ghost's shadow quietly falls over his once peaceful home. To protect his family, Zhang Dadan has no choice but to team up with Lu Jiuzhen, a Taoist priest from Longquan Temple, using himself as bait to investigate the deadly place once more.

They soon discover, however, that the water ghost beneath the mass graveyard is not alone. It is tied to a forgotten tale of injustice and a far larger, darker network of evil spirits. As the village's ancient taboos are broken one by one, Zhang Dadan must face not only a water ghost bent on claiming his life, but also the terrifying tide stirring beneath the entire township.
