The Hidden River

Dong Xiang, a disillusioned, hard-drinking veteran detective, is demoted to a local police station over an old case. A prostitute’s murder exposes a web of corruption between officials and businesspeople hidden in a small town. Every clue points to his former mentor, now deputy bureau chief, Lü Bin. With the System keeping him in check and witnesses being silenced one after another, Dong Xiang pursues the case alone, battered and ill, with the help of Li Li, a coolly beautiful forensic evidence specialist. From a rundown video arcade to an abandoned mine, from a mysterious ledger to a crucial USB drive, he ultimately stakes his life to tear open the iron curtain hanging over Anshan. This is not only a clash between justice and power, but also a sinner’s thorny road to redemption. Beneath a rust-stained badge, the truth surges like an underground river.
