"Wu Zetian" tells the legendary life of Empress Wu Zetian of the Tang Dynasty from being favored in the palace to taking control of the government. The young girl Wu Meiniang was named by Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty because of her outstanding appearance. However, she was ignored and framed when she first entered the court. After Taizong's death, she was forced to become a nun. She was later taken back to the palace by Tang Gaozong Li Zhi and regained her favor. In the court struggle, she eradicated dissidents, ascended to the throne, and governed on Li's behalf. After Gaozong's death, she proclaimed herself emperor and changed her country's name to Zhou, becoming the only female emperor in Chinese history. During her reign, she created a prosperous era, but she also caused controversy because of her extravagant private life and favoring treacherous ministers. In the end, she returned the world to the Li family dynasty, leaving behind a legendary story.
