Jin Chu became possessed by a System and was bound to the entire world. This fact was even announced to everyone.
From then on, every fluctuation in his emotions directly affected the world's fate.
When he was sad, an asteroid threatened to hit Earth;
when he was happy, humanity invented an elixir of immortality;
when he was injured, world war stood on the brink of breaking out;
even an upset stomach could cause a volcano somewhere to erupt.
To deal with this walking “natural disaster,” countries around the world joined forces to establish the Ark organization, dedicated to taking care of Jin Chu.
But all that coddling made his life dull. The world stayed safe, but also stopped progressing.
Humanity had already tasted the benefits of a “cheat,” and of course they didn't want to go back to how things used to be.
So they changed their strategy: Jin Chu would return to an ordinary life and be turned into the protagonist of a wish-fulfillment novel. They would tailor a golden finger just for him, deliberately create trouble, and then let him enjoy the satisfaction of face-slapping his opponents and making a triumphant comeback.
As Jin Chu's emotions rose and fell, the world began to advance by leaps and bounds:
Immortality became real, underground civilizations reemerged, merfolk islands surfaced, spaceships roamed freely among the stars, and traveling through space became commonplace...
Dreams that might not have come true for centuries were all realized within a single year.
But not everyone was on the same side.
Lurking in the shadows was the Nirvana organization, whose goal was to hurt or even kill Jin Chu,
thereby ushering in the... apocalypse they longed for.
