This is the story of Gu Fan, a boy struggling to survive the bitter winter and constant bullying. In the depths of despair, he grasps a glimmer of hope and sets out to defy fate. Living under someone else’s roof and enduring endless humiliation, he walks a hundred miles on foot when the Qingyun Sect, a giant of the cultivation world, opens its doors to new disciples. But because he has “no spiritual roots,” he is told that cultivation is a dead end for him. Just as all hope seems lost, the mysterious, tattered Daoist book in his arms resonates with the unyielding will within him. It awakens an unprecedented gray radiance from the Spirit-Appraising Stone, opening up a path unlike any other, full of unknowns and possibilities: the “Unusual Path.”
