Strange Tales of Yichang

On the banks of the Yangtze River in Dianjun District, Yichang, near ancient ruins or dangerous shoals, an underwater archaeological survey is underway. The protagonist, Chen Mo, encounters a mysterious woman known as “Hong.” She is elusive, often appearing in an old-fashioned red outfit on the fringes of various incidents. She seems to know many secrets, but her abilities are unknown and her attitude is ambiguous. Unusual disturbances are taking place in the Yichang area, possibly connected to the Three Gorges Project, modern development, or the awakening of some dormant entity.

Is there an official or civilian organization secretly monitoring or dealing with these events? How do they view the involvement of Chen Mo and the others?
