The 1970s: The Whole Family Spoils Their Lucky Little Darling

In the 1970s, at the Northern Red Flag Production Brigade, the Su family welcomed a little girl they believed had been born with good fortune: Su Nianbao.

This darling little dumpling, as lovely as a carved figurine, brought astonishing luck to the household. Point her toward a field and the crops would yield a bumper harvest; touch a chick and it would never get sick. She could find the perfect place to shelter from the rain and dry grain, and even stumble upon colorful eggs while gathering wild vegetables. She helped the poor Su family through one hardship after another.

Her parents doted on her, and her three older brothers spoiled her, protecting her as if she were their little empress.

With her pure heart and genuine good fortune, Nianbao led her family out of poverty and into prosperity. She met Lu Tingzhou, a steady man who always looked out for her, and brought warmth to the neighbors, too. She made a happy life full of family love and romance, becoming the village's favorite story.
