Starbound in the Origin Realm: The Banished Immortal’s Tribulation

Lu Chengyuan, a Han general from a poor family in the Yuan Dynasty, seeks revenge for his closest friend, who died after discovering that the conservative faction had colluded with the rebels against Buddhism on the Journey to the West. He infiltrates the mysterious Starfall Sea in search of the Three Treasures that Guard the Realm. Along the way, he meets Zixia, who was demoted after exposing a conspiracy between the gods and demons. Their relationship begins as a mutually useful bargain, but their shared devotion to justice and their willingness to protect each other at the risk of their lives gradually blossom into deep love.

Together with Su Yunyao, a reincarnated immortal emissary whose soul is shared by two spirits, they gather the three treasures: the Purple-Green Sword, the Evil-Quelling Mirror, and the Soul-Calming Pearl. They expose the conservatives’ and the anti-Buddhist rebels’ plot to open the realm gate and devour the Three Realms, thwarting both political schemes at court and a demonic calamity. In the end, the two use the Soul-Calming Pearl to establish a passage between the realms. They preserve the Yuan Dynasty’s prosperous, enlightened age and break the barriers separating gods and mortals, fulfilling their vow to “be true to the world and true to one another.” Thus unfolds a tale of a battle between good and evil, and forbidden love that crosses realms and defies death.
