When ripples of unfamiliar elements stirred in the air, no one realized they were the world's notice that humanity had been struck from the rolls.
Animals shed their docile skins, vines coiled around the skeletons of skyscrapers, and even the bones beneath the rotting earth shattered their coffins and returned to the world, consumed by a boundless hatred of the living. Torrential rain could crack steel beams, and hurricanes swept molten lava through cities. Nature, once the source of civilization's sustenance, had become its cruelest executioner.
Humanity was the only “failed specimen” in this great tide of evolution: without fangs, struggling even to breathe in poisonous fog. As giant trees split skyscrapers apart and mechs were reduced to scrap beneath beasts' claws, as elflike new species shared the world with resurrected ancient beasts, humankind could only clutch rusted knives and ask, caught between famine and the hunt:
Are we still a species that can be called “alive”?
Would you like me to add an opening scene showing the protagonist's first encounter with the mutations, to make the blurb more vivid?
