When a shard of a mirror pierced the boundary between dreams and reality, the ordinary life of programmer Lin Yan crumbled completely.
A month of recurring nightmares about a foggy forest, mysterious notes in a wooden cabin, and the shard’s searing energy at his fingertips all pointed to a truth that would overturn everything he knew: there was a “Dream Realm” formed from the dreams of all living beings, and he was an “Awakener,” charged with protecting the balance between two worlds.
The Awakening Mirror shattered into seven pieces, scattered across the world and corresponding to the forces of light, water, wind, earth, fire, thunder, and darkness. Their bearers were hidden in every corner of ordinary life: Su Wan, a girl entrusted with a secret legacy; Liaocheng, a monk practicing at Ciyun Temple; Chen Feng, a wandering singer who used music as his guide; and Zhao Yan, a factory guard with a heart consumed by flames... They had been complete strangers, but the shards’ resonance bound their fates together.
Shadow Devourers emerged from rifts in the Dream Realm. Wherever their darkness spread, reality warped and people’s hearts sank into corruption. The Shadow Lord, lying in wait for a thousand years, was stirring, intent on claiming every shard and tearing the boundary between the two worlds apart for good.
From a dream barrier ambush in a subway station to an exploration of a secret realm in an ancient temple, then a blazing showdown in an industrial district, Lin Yan and his companions followed clues from ancient texts, crossing between the bustling city and the uncanny Dream Realm. They gathered shards and awakened their powers while fighting off the Shadow Devourers, all the while confronting the temptations of the “Dream Shadows” growing within them.
Can the seven shards be reunited? Why does the shadow of betrayal loom over them? When will the sleeping Dream Guardians awaken? When dreams and reality become completely entwined, will they sink into darkness or seek the light through the mirror?
This adventure across two worlds is not only the Awakeners’ gathering and struggle, but also the ultimate test of responsibility, bonds, and self-redemption.
