"Dream of Red Mansions" begins with the story of Su Wan, a modern woman who accidentally travels to the world of "A Dream of Red Mansions", unfolding a story intertwined with fate and struggle. Su Wan became an inconspicuous concubine in the side branch of Rongguo Mansion. She was well aware of the ending of the Jia Mansion in the original work, where the "tree fell and the hozens scattered". She tried to change the fate of the people around her with her meager power.
Relying on her prediction of the plot, she secretly reminded Daiyu to be wary of villains and to take care of her body, but she repeatedly ran into obstacles because of her low status; she wanted to pull Baoyu out of her dream of wealth, but was regarded as an idiot's dream; facing Baochai's smoothness and Sister Feng's calculations, she struggled to deal with the cracks. She wanted to save those fresh lives, but had to face the cold cruelty of feudal ethics.
As the disaster of confiscating the house approached step by step, Su Wan tried her best to connect loyal servants and transfer the people, but in the end she could not withstand the torrent of the building that was about to collapse. The ending of Daiyu's death in tears could not be reversed, and Baoyu's steps to escape into Buddhism never stopped. She rescued some servants, but watched the once illustrious Jia family fall apart. In the end, Su Wan stood on the ruins of the desolate Grand View Garden, clutching half of the handkerchief given by Daiyu in her hand, and realized the insignificance of individuals under the wheel of time - some fates are like imprints engraved in the bones and blood. Even a prophet cannot change the ending of a broken dream, leaving only a sigh that spans time and space.
