Hard Work Forges the Immortal Path. I Have a System, So Why Not Work Hard?

Luo Jiucheng opened his eyes in a bone-chilling cold. Above him was the dilapidated roof of a thatched hut, with a few withered strands of straw dangling and swaying faintly in the wind. Beneath him was a hard bed covered in dry grass. A thin, patched quilt that smelled of mildew lay over him, doing nothing to keep out the chill of late autumn.

“Ugh...” He tried to sit up, but his whole body ached. His chest hurt especially badly, with a dull pain as if something heavy had crushed it. Unfamiliar memories flooded his mind, making his head throb.

The owner of this body was also named Luo Jiucheng. An orphan from Luo Village outside Qingyang City, he had lost his parents young and barely grown up with help from the villagers. Three days ago, while gathering firewood in the mountains, he was knocked off a cliff by a startled wild boar. Some villagers passing by had the good fortune to find and rescue him, but he remained unconscious until Luo Jiucheng from the modern world took over his body.
