A Dream Journey with No Return Date

[Parallel World in a Dream + Realistic + The Regrets of Adulthood]

At twenty-nine, Xu Zhixia is caught between the lectern of a public elementary school and a humdrum marriage. As she faces parents' complaints and her husband's silence, she keeps turning over her regret at breaking up with Jiang Yichen because neither dared to gamble on a long-distance relationship. At thirty, Jiang Yichen struggles amid the grease and responsibilities of an airline maintenance department. His mother's illness and his girlfriend's pressure to marry keep sending him back to the crossroads where he chose a career over love.

After an emotional breakdown leaves them dazed, the two accidentally enter a "parallel world." There, Xu Zhixia is a single substitute teacher at a private elementary school, drifting from place to place and fighting with all her strength for stability. Jiang Yichen has a complete family, but is crushed under the weight of a mortgage and raising children. They think they've glimpsed "another kind of happy ending," but after living through each other's lives, they discover the truth: Choice A means enduring the way daily necessities wear away your original dreams; Choice B means accepting the loneliness that comes after bravely forging your own path.

There is no miracle that defies fate, no fairy tale of rekindled love. There is only the truth of adulthood: life has no perfect answer, and every choice holds an irreparable regret. The goodbyes left unspoken, the convictions abandoned before the end, the moments they failed to cherish in time, all eventually become the endless chores and troubles of everyday life. Perhaps growing up simply means learning to make peace with regret after realizing that every choice will bring it, then earnestly walking the rest of the way along your own path.
