Three Years as a Substitute, I Died Taking an Arrow for the Dream Girl

I am a princess of an enemy kingdom, forced to marry the cold-faced general who hates me to the bone! For three years, I was his replacement. I used my mother's secret remedies to treat his chronic cold illness, shielded him from hidden arrows, and foiled political conspiracies at court. Yet he saw me only as the shadow of the woman he loved, calling me a wicked woman who would ruin the country and a traitor! When war broke out between our kingdoms, he drew his bow on me. As my own younger brother's arrow pierced my chest, he was still shouting at me to get lost!

Clutching the bloodstained prescription and an unfinished love letter, I smiled and breathed my last. General, I traded my life for the peace you wanted. But he didn't know that the medicine packets, neatly stored in a hidden compartment for three whole years, held the love I never dared to confess. He also didn't know that the woman he cherished had betrayed him years ago. When he opened that blood-written letter and saw the words “I never betrayed you,” how mad would his love come, now that it was too late?
