The story tells the story of Goudan, a soldier who grew up laughing all the way during the war, and formed friends in adversity with the doctor Huamuan, his brother Ergou, and the wise old Xu. Goudan originally just wanted to live an ignoble existence, but he was involved in a power struggle that affected the direction of the world. Under the pressure of General Hu San, Goudan relied on humor, wisdom, and cooperation among friends to repeatedly save danger, and he did not forget to laugh at himself in the crisis. The four volumes respectively describe the encounters in the army, the redemption of the dangerous city, the turmoil and exile, and the settlement of the dust. Each volume connects the previous and the following and closely follows the main line of the war. It contains both passionate and fierce conflicts as well as relaxed and humorous daily life. In the end, Goudan was attached to peace and ended the legend with humorous words. The troubled times returned to peace, and his laughter still existed in the world.
