The world of Tushan Wangshu is a carefully manicured expanse of gray.
After the disaster that stole her childhood memories, she became the only “survivor” in her family, as well as its only “normal person.” Her parents are quiet and powerful, always dealing with vague “matters” late at night. Her younger brother, Tushan Liu, is an island unto himself, living in his own world. He rarely speaks to anyone, his eyes vacant, as if staring into nothingness. To Tushan Wangshu, her brother is a severely depressed patient who needs constant supervision, a poor soul crushed by past trauma.
To fill the gaps in her memory and hold their crumbling family together, her parents and brother construct a “past” for her in a manner that borders on sacrilege.
