The story takes place in an imaginary and troubled time, where the heroes are divided, the court is corrupt, and the people are in dire straits. Li Mubai, the diaosi protagonist, only wanted to be a stable tavern owner, but was forced into a struggle for power and survival. Mixed among warlords, rivers and lakes, and the market, Li Mubai formed a temporary team with Zhao Yunge, Sun Xiaohu, Lu Shixiu and other small figures to find a way out amidst the twists and turns of humorous self-deprecation and hectic flight. They wander around the major forces, fight wits against heroes, and witness the turns of family, love, and friendship. The three volumes respectively tell the story of escape, counterattack, and the ending of troubled times. The story is compact and has climaxes one after another. It tells the story of walking through life with a smile on the face of suffering, and finally finding true freedom in the changing circumstances.
