Martial Peak: Lord of the Forbidden City

Death Reset: His mother takes a blade for him from the start

Lin Yan is framed by his uncle for murdering his father. With all four limbs broken, he is thrown into the Well of the Crippled.

As he lies in a pool of blood, he hears a mechanical voice echo in his soul:

[Death Reset activated. Time rewound by 24 hours.]

After resetting again and again, he discovers that he is the only awakened bearer of the ancient “Yama Physique,” the sole “gu among gu” in a breeding ground for gu.

The Zhenwu Bureau recruits those with supernatural abilities, the great clans monopolize secret realms, and the sects manipulate fates;

Lin Yan wants only to flip the entire board.

His enemy begs for mercy: “I have a century’s worth of martial insight. Don’t kill me!”

He devours him impassively: “Your life is my nourishment.”

When the truth of the world is revealed

all living beings are gu, and the Nine Heavens and Ten Lands are nothing but a slaughterhouse;

only then does he understand that he was never a chess piece,

but... the one holding the knife.
