The story takes place in the imaginary troubled times of "Dongzhou", where society is falling apart and princes are separatist. Wang Dachui originally just wanted to be a small rural landowner without any worries, but after his hometown was plundered and his relatives separated, he and Li Pangdun, Zhao Dongmei and others became an exile team. During the arduous journey, everyone used their humor, wisdom and perseverance to survive and grow step by step in the face of numerous crises such as intrigues, robbers, banditry, warlords, disasters and famines.
